NCLEX-RN Management of Care Practice Test

Reviewed by Winona Suzanne Ball, Nursing Adviser, RN | MHS, Governors State University, IL, Full member of the American Nurses Association.

Welcome to the first NCLEX-RN practice test for Management of Care. It is a subcategory of one of the four client needs, Safe and Effective Care Environment. It is also the largest area on the NCLEX-RN examination; you can expect about 20% of the questions to cover this important area of nursing practice. (The range is 17-23%.) Management of Care is when “the nurse provides and directs nursing care that enhances the care delivery setting to protect the client and health care personnel.” As a Registered Nurse, your responsibilities include assigning and delegating client care to staff; following ethical and legal standards; maintaining strict client confidentiality; prioritizing and organizing efficient client care; educating clients and their families; and participating in interprofessional care. In this first practice test, you will get questions about prioritization, delegating care to team members, legal terminology, informed consent, and the role of the case manager. Begin this test at any time. If you leave any test before it’s finished, it will remind you where you are when you return. Read each question carefully and try to think of the answer. If you need help, click on the Hint button that’s under the fourth option to get a sentence that serves as a reminder. If you select the correct response, you’ll go the next question. If you make a mistake, an explanation will immediately pop up. This reinforces your learning. Each time, the questions and options are shuffled into a different random order.
