A type of malingering or factitious disorder in which a person may practice self-mutilation or deception to feign illness. They are often misdiagnosed, operated upon, and seldom receive appropriate psychiatric diagnoses and therapy. Upon being detected, they may leave one hospital and appear in the emergency room of another.
