1. Ensure airway patency. 2. Time the seizure episode. 3. If the person is standing or sitting, ease them to the floor and place in side-lying position. 4. Place a pillow or folded blanket under the head. If no bedding is available, use your hands under the head or place the head in your lap. 5. Loosen restrictive clothing and remove eyeglasses. 6. Clear the area of hazards or hard objects. 7. Allow the seizure to proceed and end without interference. 8. If vomiting occurs, turn their body to one side. 8. Do not restrain, place anything in their mouth, or give fluids or food. 8. Remain with them until full recovery. 9. Observe for incontinence. 10. Document the event.
